Florida Author Pamela G. Holmes Announces Debut Novel “Praise God for Pasties”
A dark, literary psychological thriller about human trafficking, coercive control, and one woman’s harrowing transformation — arriving June 17, 2026
PANAMA CITY, FL — Pink Crow Press is proud to announce the publication of Praise God for Pasties, a debut novel by Pamela G. Holmes. The book will be available on June 17, 2026, in both print and digital formats.
Praise God for Pasties follows Rebecca Coleman, a.k.a Bella Valentina, a burlesque performer who is kidnapped into a human trafficking ring. What unfolds is not a story of brute force, but of psychological manipulation — gaslighting, identity erosion, and the terrifying mechanics of coercive control. To survive, Rebecca must undergo a transformation from performer to prisoner to predator, raising devastating questions about complicity, agency, and what it costs to stay alive.
The novel combines the pacing and suspense of a psychological thriller with the literary ambition of character-driven fiction. Where most trafficking narratives are either journalistic or exploitative, Holmes’s debut is neither. It centers Rebecca’s interiority and forces the reader to experience manipulation as she does — from the inside.
“I was inspired by a Freedom 180 presentation that shattered everything I thought I knew about trafficking,” says Holmes. “Statistics tell you the scope. Fiction makes you feel it. I wanted readers to understand how psychological manipulation works — not in the abstract, but from inside Rebecca’s experience.”
Holmes, an educator and poet with an MA in Creative Writing, brings literary craft to the thriller genre. Each of the novel’s sections and chapters are titled after a song, and the book is accompanied by an official companion Spotify playlist designed to be experienced alongside the reading. The playlist serves as what Holmes calls “the emotional architecture of the novel” — a curated soundtrack that mirrors Rebecca’s psychological journey chapter by chapter.
Set along Florida’s First Coast, the novel draws on the region’s beauty and its shadows. Florida ranks as the third-highest state in the nation for human trafficking cases, a reality that informs the novel’s setting and urgency.
Praise God for Pasties is positioned for readers of psychological thrillers and literary crime fiction, with strong crossover appeal for book clubs and social-impact readers. The title alone — a collision of the sacred and the transgressive — signals a book that operates in uncomfortable, important territory, and is built for word-of-mouth.
